Top 10 Most Surprising Premier League Table Finishes
5. Newcastle United — Relegated (2008-09)
Newcastle United weren’t one of the best teams in the Premier League, but at the start of the 2008-09 season no one expected them to finish anywhere near the relegation zone. After Kevin Keagan resigned as the Magpies manager, the club went through a number of managerial changes with Arthur Cox, Joe Kinnear, Alan Shearer, Colin Calderwood and Chris Hughton all taking a shot of the managerial role at the club. The club finished eighteenth in the Premier League and were relegated for the first time since 1989. Michael Owen and Obafermi Martins had a terrible season both scoring 8 goals a piece for the Magpies.
