Pele is a retired Brazilian professional footballer who is regarded as the Greatest Footballer of All Time, the Brazilian has featured in 4 World Cup’s for the Brazilian national team scoring 12 goals in the process.
The first World Cup he played in was the 1958 World Cup which was held in Sweden this tournament was mainly notable when 17 year old Pele made his debut and scored 6 goals to help Brazil win the tournament unfortunately the young Brazilian did not win the Golden boot but became the Youngest Player to ever play in the world cup with 17 years at 249 days what an achievement this was by the youngster who also scored a Hat-trick making him again the Youngster player to do so.
Pele also played in the 1962 FIFA World Cup but did not have much impact as he had during his first one as he got injured during the match against Czechoslovakia when trying to hit a long range shot. Pele only assisted a goal during his first and scored the second goal for himself as he went passed four defenders to score his second.
The third world cup Pele played was in 1966 which is well remembered for the 2 brutal fouls laid on Pele, The Brazilian only managed to score a single goal in the tournament due to injuries he sustained from the brutal fouls from a Bulgarian and Portuguese defender , The first goal came from a free kick taken by Pele later in the game he was fouled and missed the next game due to injury Brazil lost the games the great Brazilian did not play in the last crucial match against Portugal Pele was added into the team even though he was still recovering from injury, Portugal’s defender João Morais brutaly fouled player but the referee George McCabe did not sent him off to whom it is acknowledged as letting the defender get away with murder. Pele played the rest of the game limping since substitutes were not allowed t that time. Pele vowed that was his last World Cup he would ever play but he later changed his decision.
The fourth and final World Cup played by the brilliant Brazilian was in Mexico, Pele saw himself score 5 goals during the tournament making it all a total of 12 goals in the World Cup and makes the list of Top 10 World Cup Goal Scorers of All Time.
